The Exceeding Sinfulness of Sin.

There are TWO AREAS which even the most spiritual of believers can penetrate only slightly.
They are the Holiness of our Creator and the depths of the Creature’s sinfulness. Willmington pps 721-722
Scripture gives three major proofs and illustrations of the exceeding sinfulness of sin.

"In order that by means of the Commandment the unspeakable sinfulness of sin might be plainly shown." Romans 7:13

The Christianity which is from the Holy Spirit, will always have a very deep view of the sinfulness of sin. It will not merely regard sin as a blemish and misfortune, which makes men and women objects of pity and compassion. It will see sin as . . .
the curse which cursed God's beautiful creation,
the cursed thing which makes the whole earth groan and struggle in pain,
the abominable thing which God hates,

A. The Angelic Proof.
On dark day, for absolutely no reason, Lucifer who had been given so much responsibility and privilege in heaven, viciously lashed out against the Almighty and leads a rebellion to try to drive the Creator from His own Universe.
The depths of Depravity of this sin, in the light of its background, can never be comprehended by any creature, Angelic or Human.

Isa 14:12  How you are fallen from the heavens, O shining star, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations!
Isa 14:13  For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.
Isa 14:14  I will go up above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.
Isa 14:15  Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the Pit.

Eze 28:11  And the Word of Jehovah came to me, saying,
Eze 28:12  Son of man, lift up a lament over the king of Tyre, and say to him, So says the Lord Jehovah: You seal the measure, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
Eze 28:13  You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the ruby, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the turquoise, and the emerald, and gold. The workmanship of your tambourines and of your flutes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.
Eze 28:14  You were the anointed cherub that covers, and I had put you in the holy height of God where you were; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Eze 28:15  You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until iniquity was found in you.
Eze 28:16  By the multitude of your goods they have filled your midst with violence, and you have sinned. So I cast you profaned from the height of God, and I destroy you, O covering cherub, from among the stones of fire.
Eze 28:17  Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have spoiled your wisdom because of your brightness. I will cast you to the ground; I will put you before kings, that they may behold you.
Eze 28:18  By the host of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trade, you have profaned your holy places; so I brought a fire from your midst; it shall devour you, and I will give you for ashes on the earth, before the eyes of all who see you.
Eze 28:19  All who know you among the peoples shall be astonished at you; you shall be terrors, and you will not be forever.

B. The Human proof.

L.S. Chafer Writes :“One Individual, the first of the human Creation, committed one sin and that sin being apparently so innocuous, men are prone to ridicule the Thought that God would notice it at all; yet that one sin is according to Divine estimation, sufficiently evil to cause the degeneration and depravity of the unfallen person who committed the sin, and to cause uncountable millions of his posterity to suffer in the flesh and die, and the vast majority of them to spend eternity in the realms of woe.” Systematic Theology Vol. II p.252

C. The Divine Proof.
“ The Son of God suffered to an infinite degree and died on the Cross because of sin. There was no other way whereby redemption could have been secured. However, had there never been but one sin committed in this world, the same depths of suffering and death by the Son of God would have been required as a righteous ground for Divine forgiveness of that one sin and the justification of that sinner.” ibid p.252
