a. They are lost because they have rejected the Biblical Revelation. Ps 19:1
Psa 19:1 <For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.> The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.
Psa 19:2 Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge.
Psa 19:3 There is no speech nor language; their voice cannot be heard.
Psa 19:4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
Act 14:17 Yet, by doing good, He [God] has given evidence of his existence. He gives you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons. He fills you with food and your lives with happiness."
Rom 1:18 God's anger is revealed from heaven against every ungodly and immoral thing people do as they try to suppress the truth by their immoral living.
Rom 1:19 What can be known about God is clear to them because he has made it clear to them.
Rom 1:20 From the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly observed in what he made. As a result, people have no excuse.
Never so blind as those who will not see.
b. Men are lost because they have disobeyed their conscience.
Rom 2:14 For example, whenever non-Jews who don't have laws from God do by nature the things that Moses' Teachings contain, they are a law to themselves even though they don't have any laws from God.
Rom 2:15 They show that some requirements found in Moses' Teachings are written in their hearts. Their consciences speak to them. Their thoughts accuse them on one occasion and defend them on another.
Rom 2:16 This happens as they face the day when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge people's secret thoughts. He will use the Good News that I am spreading to make that judgment.
c. They are lost because of their relationship to the World.
Eph 2:2 You followed the ways of this present world and its spiritual ruler. This ruler continues to work in people who refuse to obey God.
Jas 4:4 You unfaithful people! Don't you know that love for this evil world is hatred toward God? Whoever wants to be a friend of this world is an enemy of God.
1Jn 2:15 Don't love the world and what it offers. Those who love the world don't have the Father's love in them.
1Jn 2:16 Not everything that the world offers-physical gratification, greed, and extravagant lifestyles-comes from the Father. It comes from the world, and
1Jn 2:17 the world and its evil desires are passing away. But the person who does what God wants lives forever.
d. They are lost because of their relationship to Satan.
Mat 4:8 Once more the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms in the world and their glory.
Mat 4:9 The devil said to him, "I will give you all this if you will bow down and worship me."
2Co 4:4 The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. As a result, they don't see the light of the Good News about Christ's glory. It is Christ who is God's image.
e. They are lost because of their relationship to SIN.
Gen 8:21 The LORD smelled the soothing aroma. He said to himself, "I will never again curse the ground because of humans, even though from birth their hearts are set on nothing but evil. I will never again kill every living creature as I have just done.
Ecc 7:20 Certainly, there is no one so righteous on earth that he always does what is good and never sins.
Mar 7:20 He continued, "It's what comes out of a person that makes him unclean.
Mar 7:21 Evil thoughts, sexual sins, stealing, murder,
Mar 7:22 adultery, greed, wickedness, cheating, shameless lust, envy, cursing, arrogance, and foolishness come from within a person.
Mar 7:23 All these evils come from within and make a person unclean."
Application You may not be as bad as you can be, but nevertheless, you are as bad off as you can be. Man is born both spiritually dead and dying physically Gen 2:17 This can be likened to a condemned criminal on death row waiting for the electric chair and dying of cancer.
f. They are lost because of their relationship with God.
Joh 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life. Instead, he will see God's constant anger."
Eph 2:12 Also, at that time you were without Christ. You were excluded from citizenship in Israel, and the pledges God made in his promise were foreign to you. You had no hope and were in the world without God.
1Jn 5:12 The person who has the Son has this life. The person who doesn't have the Son of God doesn't have this life.
Jud 1:18 "In the last times people who ridicule God will appear. They will follow their own ungodly desires."
Jud 1:19 These are the people who cause divisions. They are concerned about physical things, not spiritual things.
