The Doctrine of Man. His Origin

We are following the outline given by Willmington's Guide to the Bible.  p.668
1. Man’s Origin.
2. His nature.
3. His Origin Duties and responsibilities.
4. His tragic Sin and Fall.
5. His Present day Condition.
6. His destiny.

1. His Origin.

Three Theories about His Origin.
A. Atheistic Evolution.
This theory holds that man is the accidental and random product of a blind and non-personal series of chemical and biological events. Simply defined, evolution is that process by which all living organisms have developed from the simple to the more complex forms. This theory would have us believe that our world and all it contains came into being  through evolving mud in time , We are assured that if we allow but a little mud enough time it will, of and by itself, produce the music of Beethoven, the paintings of Raphael, and the writings of Shakespeare, and the teachings of Christ. Needless to say that this theory is unscriptural and nonsensical as well. Willmington p. 668

B. Theistic Evolution.
This that there is one God, the creator of matter, who chose the method of evolution to bring all things including man into their present state of existence. However, evolution as a method is  clearly, strongly, and completely refuted by the Bible.
1. Genesis teaches that life began on dry land, while evolution propounds it began on some remote sea bottom.
Gen 1:11  And God said, Let the earth put forth grass, herb yielding seed, and fruit tree bearing fruit after its kind, wherein is the seed thereof, upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:12  And the earth brought forth grass, herb yielding seed after its kind, and tree bearing fruit, wherein is the seed thereof, after its kind: and God saw, that it was good.
2. Genesis declares that birds existed before insects, whole evolution reverses that order.
Gen 1:20  And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and let fowl fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
Gen 1:24  And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after its kind: and it was so.

3. Genesis states that birds and fish were created at the same time, but evolution says fish evolved hundreds of millions of years before birds developed.

Gen 1:21  And God created the great sea–monsters, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kinds, and every winged fowl after its kind: and God saw that it was good.

4. Genesis stresses ‘Ten Times’ the entities created were to reproduce “after their kind.”

Evolution postulates the slow ascent of all organisms from a common ancestor.
Gen 1:25  And God made the beast of the earth after its kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the ground after its kind: and God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27  And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28  And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Gen 1:29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat:
Gen 1:30  and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Horses always give birth to a horse-(foal)

5.Genesis says that man was made from the dust of the ground in the image of God, while evolution claims that man descended from some sub-ape creature.

6. Genesis records Woman’s coming from the side of Adam, while evolution teaches both man and woman developed simultaneously.

7. Genesis tells us that man was originally a Vegetarian while evolution tells us he was probably a head-hunting cannibal.
Sharp teeth were not part of the creation, they were part of the curse.
Adam, Eve and all the animals were created to eat only vegetation (see comments on Genesis 1:29-30). Nothing died prior to the spiritual fall of Adam and Eve (see comments on Genesis 3:19 and 3:21)www.angelfire.com
Gen 1:29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat:

C. Special Creation.

This is the view that man is the direct product from the hand of God and that the statements in Genesis 1 and 2 are to be taken at face value. In addition to this, a number of Bible students see in these first two chapters a clear case for believing in a special twenty-four-hour, six day creation week. This it is believed can be seen in:

1.As indicated in the Hebrew language,  if the days were really long periods of time, the Hebrew word olam meaning (long indefinite period of time) would doubtless have been used rather than the Hebrew word yom which means day (a 24 hour ) period.

“The use of a numerical adjective with the word (day-yom) in Genesis limits it to a normal day…. in Historical narrative the numerical adjective always limts the word to a twenty-four hour period Cf Numbers 7 for a remarkable parallel. Dr John Whitcomb, Jr., Creation According to God’s Word.

Famous Scientists who are Creationists.Do you spot any you know?

2.As indicated in the Genelogies found in Genesis 5 and 11, I evolution is correct and man is actually a million years old then we would be forced to allow a 55,000 year gap between each name in these two chapters. Furthermore, if life itself were nearly a billion years old, then each day in Genesis1 would have to stand for approximately 125 million years.
3. A Special Creation as indicated to Moses at Mt Sinai in
Exo 20:9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10  but the seventh day is a sabbath unto the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11  for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

4. Special Creation as Indicated by King David.

Psa 33:6  By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Psa 33:7  He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the deeps in storehouses.
Psa 33:8  Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Psa 33:9  For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

5. Special Creation as Indicated by Jesus.

The Saviour accepted the literal explanation of the first three chapters of Genesis.
Luk 3:38  the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

Mat 19:4  And he (Jesus) answered and said, Have ye not read, that he which made them from the beginning made them male and female,

Joh 5:46  For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me.
Joh 5:47  But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

6. Special Creation as indicated by Paul.

Rom 5:12  Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned:––
Rom 5:14  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come.
Rom 5:17  For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.
Rom 5:19  For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.

Rom 8:19  For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God.
Rom 8:20  For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope
Rom 8:21  that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.
Rom 8:22  For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

1Co 11:8  For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man:
1Co 11:9  for neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man:
1Co 11:10  for this cause ought the woman to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels.
1Co 11:11  Howbeit neither is the woman without the man, nor the man without the woman, in the Lord.
1Co 11:12  For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman; but all things are of God.

1Ti 2:13  For Adam was first formed, then Eve;
1Ti 2:14  and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression:

7. As indicated by Edward Young an outstanding Hebrew Scholar.

“ The six days are to be understood in a Chronological sense, that is one day following another in succession. This facts is emphasised in that the days are designated one, two, three etc.’ Westminster Theological Journal May 1963 p.169

Summary: It is absolutely necessary to believe that the Book of Genesis states that Creation was a literal six-day creation.
If we allow Satan to water down this, then we can permit is to doubt our present mission as Ambassadors for Christ and our Future destiny.
Joh 3:12  If I told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you heavenly things? Jesus words to Nicodemus.
