Soteriology: Glorification

Rom 8:30  and those whom He has pre-destined He also has called; and those whom He has called He has also declared free from guilt; and those whom He has declared free from guilt He has also crowned with glory. [them He also GLORIFIED]

The Glorified Christ

Rom 5:2  through whom also, as the result of faith, we have obtained an introduction into that state of favour with God in which we stand, and we exult in hope of some day sharing in God's glory.

Rom 8:18  Why, what we now suffer I count as nothing in comparison with the glory which is soon to be manifested in us.

Col 3:4  When Christ appears--He is our true Life--then you also will appear with Him in glory.

1Pe 5:1  I exhort the elders who are among you, I being also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed.

1. The meaning of Glorification.
It refers to the ultimate and absolute physical, mental and spiritual perfections of all believers.
Rom 8:22  And we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.
Rom 8:23  And not only so, but ourselves also, who have the firstfruit of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, awaiting adoption, the redemption of our body.

1Co 15:41  one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
1Co 15:42  So also the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption;
1Co 15:43  it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
1Co 15:44  it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

1Co 15:51  Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed;
1Co 15:52  in a moment, in a glance of an eye, at the last trumpet. For a trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed.
1Co 15:53  For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54  But when this corruptible shall put on incorruption, and when this mortal shall put on immortality, then will take place the word that is written, "Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Co 15:55  O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?"

1Co 4:14  I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you.
1Co 4:15  For though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for I have begotten you in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
1Co 4:16  Therefore I beseech you, be imitators of me.
1Co 4:17  For this cause I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved son and faithful in the Lord, who shall remind you of my ways which are in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.
1Co 4:18  As to my not coming to you now, some are puffed up.

1Co 5:1  On the whole it is reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even named among the nations, so as one to have his father's wife.
1Co 5:2  And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, so that he who has done this deed may be taken from your midst.
1Co 5:3  For as being absent in body but present in spirit, I indeed have judged already as though I were present concerning him who worked out this thing;
1Co 5:4  in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, with my spirit; also, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ;

2. The Time of Glorification.
It will be at the Rapture and continue throughout all eternity.

1Th 4:13  But I would not have you ignorant, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, that you be not grieved, even as others who have no hope.
1Th 4:14  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will also bring with Him all those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.
1Th 4:15  For we say this to you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall not go before those who are asleep.
1Th 4:16  For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first.
1Th 4:17  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18  Therefore comfort one another with these words.

1Co 15:51  Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed;

3. The Purpose of Glorification. Glorification is the finale side of the Great Salvation Triangle. It completes justification and Sanctification.
Note (1) In the Past, Christ the Redeemer saved us from the Penalty of Sin through justification.
(2) In the Present, Christ the Great High Priest, saves us from the Power of sin through sanctification.
(3) In the future, Christ the King will save us from the presence of sin through glorification.

4. The results of Glorification. What kind of body will the Believer possess?

a. It will be a body like Christ’s Glorified Body.
Php 3:20  For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which also we are looking for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Php 3:21  who shall change our body of humiliation so that it may be fashioned like His glorious body, according to the working of His power, even to subdue all things to Himself.

1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

b. It will be a body of flesh and bones. Luk 24:39  Behold My hands and My feet, that I am He! Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see Me have.

c. It will be a recognizable body.
1Co 13:12  For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall fully know even as I also am fully known.

d. It will be a body in which the Spirit predominates 1Co 15:44  it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
1Co 15:49  And according as we bore the image of the earthy man, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.
1Co 15:50  And I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
1Co 15:51  Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed;
1Co 15:52  in a moment, in a glance of an eye, at the last trumpet. For a trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed.

e. It will be a body unlimited by time, gravity and space. Lk 24:31  Jn 20:19; Jn 20:26

f. It will be an eternal body. 2Co 5:1  For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

g. It will be glorious.
Rom 8:18  For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed in us.

1Co 15:43  it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
