The Doctrine of Man - His Destiny as an Unbeliever - Hell.

The first doctrine that unbelievers want to deny is HELL. Satan has successfully accomplished this coveted goal by:

A. Rationalism.

“ There is no God, so there can be no hell.”  This Rationalism often is disguised as ‘science’.
Wikipedia says  “In epistemology, rationalism is the view that "regards reason as the chief source and test of knowledge"[1] or "any view appealing to reason as a source of knowledge or justification."[2] More formally, rationalism is defined as a methodology or a theory "in which the criterion of the truth is not sensory but intellectual and deductive."[3] Rationalists believe reality has an intrinsically logical structure.”

Harold Bryson writes, “Other people deny the existence of hell on the basis of modern thinking. Some assume that many scientific discoveries of the Twentieth Century render the belief in a future life impossible. Using the scientific study of the dissolution of chemical elemets of the body, they deny any possibility of a bodily resurrection. Also, the theory of organic evolution tries to demonstrate man’s common origin with lower life forms. Evolution destroys the basis for believing that many has a higher destiny than any other creature. Some naively insist that the penetration of space leaves no place for Biblical teachings on heaven and hell. It has been assumed that if man finds no evidence of heaven in space there there is likewise no hell located in the opposite direction.” Willmington p.681

Charles Darwin in the Christian Agnostic 1965 says, “ Disbelief crept over meat a very slow rate, but was at last, complete. I can hardly see how anyone ought to wish Christianity to be true, for, if so, the plain language of the text seems to show that the men who do not believe - and this would include my father, brother, and almost all my best friends - will be everlastingly punished. And this is a Damnable doctrine.” p.164

B. Ridicule.
Robert Burns : “There may be a God, but it is silly to speculate about multitudes of disembodied spirits frying in some literal lake of fire somewhere.”
One of America’s most famous atheists was Robert G. Ingersoll who ridiculed the idea of hell whenever and wherever he could. He formed this slogan for a tobacco company concerning cigars,”Smoke in this world, and not in the one to come.” he quoted Robert Burns on every occasion possible. Some wag suggested on Ingersoll’s death an appropriate epitaph for his tombstone would be”Robert Burns”.

C. Religion.
“There is a God but He is a God of Love. and therefore would not and could not send anyone to Hell.” This is the position of Liberalism. Recent Theologians like Karl Barth,Emil Brunner, Paul Tillich, and others either denied or downplayed the doctrine of hell.
The cults all are on common ground. There is no hell.
The JW’s teach that the wicked are simply annihilated.
The Mormons believe in hell, but not as an endless existence. They teach that life after death has three levels: Celestial, terrestrial, and telestial. The celestial is for the Mormons in the intermediate state, who will eventually become gods. The terrestrial will be for Christians and others who reject Mormon teaching. The Telestial is reserved for those who are currently in hell awaiting the final resurrection.
The Christian Scientists defines hell as error of the mortal mind.
The Seventh Day Adventists claim that God will someday blot out all sin and sinners and establish a clean Universe again.
Bishop James Pike says, “ A Heaven of infinite bliss and a hell of infinite torment is an impossible contradiction.

Despite what men may say the Bible dogmatically declares the existence and reality of hell.Rom 3:4  God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment.
