Impeccability of Jesus Christ.

Impeccability is the absence of sin. Christianity teaches this to be an attribute of God (logically God cannot sin, it would mean that he would act against his own will and nature) and therefore also an attribute of Christ.Wikipedia.

A Christ did not sin - Note these verses.
1. He knew no sin. 2Co 5:21  For He has made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2. He did no sin. 1Pe 2:21  For you were not called to this? For Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps,
1Pe 2:22  He who did no sin, nor was guile found in His mouth,
1Pe 2:23  who when He was reviled did not revile in return. When He suffered, He did not threaten, but gave Himself up to Him who judges righteously.also Heb 4:15
3. He had no sin. 1Jn 3:5  And you know that He was revealed that He might take away our sins, and in Him is no sin.
Joh 14:30  I shall no longer speak many things with you, for the ruler of this world comes, and he has nothing in Me.

B. These facts are attested by the following:
1. Pilate.John 19:4  Then Pilate went out again and said to them, Behold, I bring him out to you so that you may know that I find no fault in him.
2. Pilate’s Wife. Mat 27:19  But as he was sitting down on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing to do with that just man, for today because of Him I have suffered many things in a dream.
3. Judas Mat 27:3  Then he who had betrayed Him, seeing that He was condemned, sorrowing, Judas returned the thirty pieces of silver again to the chief priests and elders,
Mat 27:4  saying, I have sinned, betraying innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? You see to that.
Mat 27:5  And he threw the pieces of silver down in the temple and departed. And he went and hanged himself.
4. The Dying Thief.  Luk 23:39  And one of the hanged criminals blasphemed Him, saying, If you are Christ, save Yourself and us.
Luk 23:40  But answering, the other rebuked him, saying, Do you not fear God, since you are in the same condemnation.
Luk 23:41  And we indeed justly so, for we receive the due reward of our deeds, but this Man has done nothing amiss.
5. The Roman Centurion.Luk 23:47  And when the centurion saw what had been done, he glorified God, saying, Truly this Man was righteous.

C. Could Christ have sinned? There is no question that He did not sin but  could he have sinned? Willmington quotes W.E. Best saying “ The point of view that Christ could have sinned is designated by the idea of peccability; and the fact that He could not sin is expressed by the term impeccability. To suggest the capability or possibility of sinning would disqualify Christ as Saviour, for a peccableChrist would mean a peccable God. Holiness is far more than the absence of sin, it is a positive virtue. The advocates of peccability say, ‘Christ could have sinned, but He did not.’ But to say that he could have sinned is to deny positive holiness. This denies the holy character of God. Holiness is a positive virtue which neither has room for nor interest in sin.
The Lord Jesus Christ could not sin because the days of His flesh meant only addition to experience not any variation in character. Holy humanity was united to Deity in one indivisible Person. the impeccable Christ. He cannot have more holiness because he is perfectly holy. He cannot have less holiness because He is unchangingly Holy. Studies in the person and Work of Christ. p.3
Why the temptations if Christ could not have sinned?
His trials were not to see if he would sin, but to prove He would not.

“The complete absence of sin, only in Jesus Christ. Christ demonstrated complete obedience to God in spite of his human frailty, enabling him to be a perfect atoning sacrifice and to give his righteousness to sinners.
Jesus Christ fully experienced human weakness
Jesus Christ was tempted to sin
Jesus Christ resisted the temptation to sin

Only a Sinless Saviour could pay Sin's Penalty

IMPEC'CABLE, a. [L. pecco, to err, to sin.] Not liable to sin; not subject to sin; exempt from the possibility of sinning. No mere man is impeccable.Webster’s Dictionary
